Jess Battaglia - Professional Dog Trainer. Owner/Operator

Jess has been an avid pet care and training professional for 10+ years working with everything from hedgehogs and house cats to livestock and horses. Her dedication to providing the best care to family’s beloved pets morphed into an insatiable curiosity about animal behavior and how to modify that behavior to help dogs and humans coexist better. Being a small part of so many different households and getting to experience how people navigated life differently and had unique expectations for life with their dogs has become an integral part of Jess’ approach to training and walks. No two sessions are ever exactly alike because no two dogs are exactly alike. Jess has 5+ years experience as an apprentice and assistant trainer of high energy/drive dogs and horses, her passion is creating resilient bonds between challenging animals and their dedicated humans.

Her methods for building those bonds are based in the study of learning theory, canine biology and behavior, and affective neuroscience. Applicable tools from all of these fields are used to create motivating and effective training plans that address the whole dog to overcome behavioral issues like inconsistent recalls, aggression, separation anxiety, and a whole variety of other relationship issues between dogs and their humans. Her training programs are as unique as the dogs they’re written for but focus on molding and refining each dog’s natural drives to utilize as a powerful training motivator to teach them how to navigate home life and society responsibly.

Jess currently shares her life with a variety of herding type dogs and is training with trial goals in obedience, G.R.C. Dog Sports, disc, and with a special focus on herding (sheep, ducks, and cattle). She has trialed/titled in AKC(American Kennel Club), ASCA(Australian Shepherd Club of America) and AHBA (American Herding Breed Association).
